KILIMANJARO LEMOSHO ROUTE

Lemosho

ABOUT LEMOSHO ROUTE

The Lemosho Route is considered one of the best trails on Mount Kilimanjaro, especially for climbers looking for excellent acclimatization and fewer crowds. This scenic route begins on the western side of the mountain and offers a gradual ascent, making it a favorite among those aiming for a higher summit success rate.
One of the highlights of Lemosho is its beautiful approach through the Lemosho Glades, a lush forest area teeming with wildlife. On the first day, trekking groups are often accompanied by an armed ranger, as this section of the forest is home to buffalo, elephants, and other wild animals. This makes the start of the adventure not only safe but also an authentic experience of Tanzania’s wilderness.
As the route continues, climbers ascend onto the expansive Shira Plateau, where sweeping views of the mountain and surrounding landscapes unfold. The trail then joins with the Machame Route, offering diverse scenery—from rainforests and alpine deserts to glaciers near the summit.
The minimum duration for the Lemosho Route is 6 days, but we strongly recommend 7 , 8 , or 9 days. The additional days allow your body more time to adapt to the altitude, significantly reducing the risk of altitude sickness. With extra acclimatization and rest, your chances of a successful and enjoyable summit are much higher.
For trekkers seeking a balance of scenic beauty, fewer crowds, great acclimatization, and high success rates, the Lemosho Route is one of the best choices for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
